From the Director of IT

In the dynamic landscape of Information Technology, constant changes are inevitable. However, with the support of the Pamplin IT help desk team, we will navigate these transitions together to make them as seamless as possible. This academic year will bring a variety of changes: a significant change on the Google contract causing most users to move significant storage to a different location, implementation of a new phone system (Zoom phones) focused on hybrid employees, and a renewed focus on the cyber threats to the university (IT Transformation), just to name a few. Certain changes may remain invisible to you, seamlessly enhancing performance and security behind the scenes, while others will prompt you to take necessary actions to adapt to the new system. I appreciate your patience as we are quickly developing processes and procures focused on making it the easiest for you. We will continue to communicate information as we can through this bi-weekly newsletter.

Featured Service

Pamplin IT has been running the Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) for almsot 6 years. The service allows students, primilarily running the macOS, to connect to a Windows machine with pre-installed software on it. During the Fall and Spring semester, we have a few hundred sessions a week and over 500 registered users. With the closing of the computer labs throughout the years, this has allowed us to pivot to a cost-effective model.
