May 2017
Welcome to the new Office of Information Technology webpage. Monthly newsletters will start again trying to make sure everyone is aware of upcoming technology changes, offerings, etc. We have expanded many of our services over the past 2 years, as we do much more A/V support, internal busines systems, and run the Pamplin Print Shop. We are still working on getting the website updates, so please check back. http://technology.pamplin.vt.edu.
As we complete this semester, we are sad to lose our GA Chris Nelson. He has been with the Pamplin Office of IT for about 6 years starting as an undergraduate. He will be missed, but please congratulate him on earning his Master of Information Technology through Virginia Tech. He will be with us until the beginning of June.
PHISH-ing Attempts
As a reminder from the Google Doc exploit last week. If you are not expecting a document, attachment, or link, please be very cautious. It is better to wait and reply to the owner before download or clicking. On campus over 1,500 click and accepted the exploit last week.
For more information on Phishing, please visit the Virginia Tech IT Security Office page.
Our summer computer lab hours will be slightly abbreviated, 9am - 4pm. The professional staff will be available from 8am-5pm. Congratulations on another year well done and look forward to welcoming the Class of 2021 this summer.
Thank you,
Jim Dickhans
Director of Information Technology
