Class of 2025

All undergraduate students in the Pamplin College of Business are expected to have a laptop or tablet. Tablets are acceptable as they have capabilities beyond a normal laptop and offer excellent in-class note taking and searching utilities.

Any Laptop or Tablet Computer

  • Windows 10 (64-Bit)
  • Intel Core i-series
  • Memory: 16 GB Ram (or more)
  • Hard Drive: Minimum: 500 GB SSD (Solid State Drive)
  • Webcam: Built-in or external with built in microphone (headset/earbuds recommended)
  • Wireless: 802.11ac (802.11ax recommended)

Additional Recommendations

  • 16 GB (or more) USB Flash Drive
  • Any backup method of choice including cloud-based services like Google Drive.
  • Inkjet or Laser Printer
  • Warranty – 3 years parts and labor on-site.
    4 years is preferred if available.

Windows  on Apple Computers

If you have an Apple computer, you will need to run Windows OS for certain business software. This can be done various ways. Check out Windows on Mac for more information

  • Intel Core i-series or Apple M1 chip (Note: *If your major requires use of a Windows based software product, please note that new Macs with the Apple M1 chip may not run the required Windows based software locally. You should only purchase an Apple M1 chip Mac if your major requires you to run a Windows based product and they either provide remote access to a Windows operating system or confirm the required software will run with an M1 chip Mac.  Please check with your major before you purchase an M1 chip Mac.)
