Installing and Accessing Virtual Computer Lab
Preparations
1. Requesting Access to the Pamplin Virtual Computer Lab
2. Download and Setup the Virginia Tech VPN
Setup
1. Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop App
- Go into the App Store and search “Microsoft Remote Desktop”, select the app and then click install
2. Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop App and select “Add PC”
3. Add the Pamplin Virtual Computer Lab
- In the PC name box, type in “student.remote.pamplin.vt.edu” and then click Add
4. Connect to the Pamplin Virtual Computer Lab
- Double click on the student.remote.pamplin.vt.edu box and enter your full email address PID@vt.edu as your Username and your Hokies Password (usually this is the same as your Canvas password)
If you are off-campus, be sure to connect to the VPN before connecting to the Virtual Computer Lab. Instructions on installing the VPN can be found here
- Open Remote Desktop Connection
Computer: student.remote.pamplin.vt.edu
General Tab
User Name: [pid]@vt.edu
Local Resources
Drives: Select your C: (if you want to move data between your laptop and the VCL)
- Hit Connect
